Australian audiences are counting down until the midnight screening after a star-studded red carpet premiere in Sydney tonight. A segment of Star Wars Expanded Universe fans had threatened to stage a "spoiler jihadi" on The Force Awakens if Disney doesn't create films based on events that take place in that previously established timeline.
Davis then took a selfie (using a selfie stick) with BB-8, as fans looked on and cheered.
That is to say, "The Empire Strikes Back" (the second film in the series, or episode V, if you prefer) was my first movie experience. No Star Wars movie since has been nominated for best picture because they were all more of the same (or, in the case of the prequels, just not very good).

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" premiered on Monday night and will be shown on different cinemas in the next couple of days.
Abrams directed, wrote and co-produced the film and praised newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, saying: "These are two incredible actors, watching them together is awesome". And be sure to check out the new Star Wars film, in theaters on Friday!
